How does your media product represent particular social groups?
In our film opening we decided to have a group of four friends, each friend is obviously different and this is why we thought to make each girl reach out to a different social group, this is so we would have a wider audience that would want to watch it.

For example: Scarlet, she dies at the beginning of our film, however, she is 18, this means that this age group may want to watch the film. Scarlet is also a gruge, this means she is into all of the goth things, however, she is not a full on goth. Scarlet is wearing a white vest top and black leggings, this to show that she is a grunge girl and it is to also show that she was not ready for the party at her ting of death. Girls that are also grunge girls might want to watch this film as there is someone in our film that relates to them.

One of the other girls are called Eva. Eva is 20 she is the oldest in the group, this means she is mature. Eva is also sensible, so we thought that people this age would like to watch this film, as there is someone within the film that can relate to them. People may also want to watch this film, because of Eva's personality, this maybe because they have the same personality, her personality is plain, however, she is also happy and bubbly at times.

Riley is the girly girl out of the group, she is 19. Riley is the second oldest, this means that she is also mature, however she is not as mature as Eva this is because she is still a teenager and she is still finding the teen-life to be as interesting and fascinating as when she turned 18. Riley also likes to take risks as she thinks that it makes your life more interesting.

We tried to make our film and characters reach out to a wide range of different social groups, this is because if more people could relate to our film then they may want to go watch it and then they can go with their friends and watch it, this is how we are going to get our target audience to watch as well as having young actresses that represent young social groups.
Kimberley, you have begun to analyse your character choices but you need to avoid phrases such as 'girly girl' and 'slutty'. Think carefully about what social groups make up your target audience and their reactions to your character. Also, evaluate potential mistakes you may have made. Does a white top and leggings really read 'grunge' to a potential audience? Some of your intended messages aren't clear enough i.e. How are the audience made aware of the your characters' ages?
